This costume was done completely freehand and I made my own patterns. This was also my first experience in corset making. It was very perplexing because the corset is actually attached to the inside of the dress. The components of this costume are as follows:
This dress took up tremendous amounts of fabric and was extremely expensive. To give you some idea - the lining was $15/m and the bridal satin was $25.99/m. Thank goodness FabricLand has sales frequently! Even so, I purchased 4 metres each of the organza, satin and satin cord. The beads are a variety that range from inexpensive 2mm bugle beads to Czech fire polished beads and a few Swarovski crystal beads. This costume was put on hold for 9 months after Toronto Trek and it was finished for Ad Astra. The corset was adjusted (not fun...) and the bead detailing was added.

Notes: This dress is the result of 4 days worth of non-stop sewing. Making a corset was a fabulous experience. I love working with steel boning. Since making this dress I've learned a lot more about corsetry that I hope to apply to future projects. I loved making this dress and it is so easy to wear. I've decided that steel bones and corsets in general rock! That said, this is NOT a costume for sitting down in . . . - Archangeli
