~ Machiko's Report for Toronto Trek 18 - July 2-4, 2004 ~

We didn’t go on Friday so I can’t report on that.

Saturday

We arrived in the afternoon (2pm ish) at the hotel and I spent FOREVER in the bath room…CURSE KOS-MOS… >__<” my sis had run out to register for the masquerade and get a registration for her friend. I was struggling in the washroom because I couldn’t move things in Kos-Mos, it’s very hard to move and bend over in Kos-mos…

When I got out of the bathroom, people were staring at me. I was the odd cookie at the con. My sister and I got stopped for pics. It’s nothing like Anime North. AN was just insane in terms of picture taking. At TT it was really nice. Not a lot of people to overwhelm you ^__^”

When we got my scythe peace bonded it was really funny. The guys there were like “How in the world are we going to peace bond that??” hehe…I now have a small collection of peace bond plastic thingies on my scythe…fun fun.

After checking out the space, we went outside to take a “photoshoot.” Somehow we managed to be standing in the spot outside of  where the indoor pool was. GUYS WERE HOOTING, SCREAMING, AND BANGING ON THE WINDOW!!! They were giving me their numbers and I finally figured out after awhile they were giving me their ROOM numbers!!! My sis told me that they were guys from an Italian Soccer Team. SO WEIRD HAVING GUYS DO THAT TO ME…AHHHHH!! The best part is that we got pictures of the guys blowing kisses and staring…HEHE!

We left pretty quickly after that experience. We checked out the dealers room and art room. Snapped pictures and stuff. Nothing interesting. Around 7pm we walked out way to the green room to sit and wait for the Masquerade to start. I MET KAIJUGAL! *WHEE* AND I MET IKEGAMI!! I recognized a lot of people I’d seen before.

When I the masquerade started, and I was about to go up, I just remembered that I totally didn’t remember how to swing my scythe! I TOTALLY MESSED UP ON STAGE AND MANAGED TO HIT MY VISOR WITH MY SCYTHE…*SOOO EMBARRASSED* I walked off stage cursing to myself… I was so sad that I totally messed up…I HAD to get out of Kos-Mos after my turn on the stage. MY FEET HURT!! Afterwards, my sister and Michael-David got glomped by people and he really loved my scythe ^__^” we stayed around a bit at the dance to wait for the winners of the masquerade to be announced. We got tired of waiting and left. Thanks to Dani for giving me a glow necklace for free!

 Sunday – the nothing day

We got there with Poring ^__^ and took some cute pictures with him. We asked some random people to takes pics with Poring. They were so nice! We checked the results of the masquerade. I was giddy because I won Best in Class in the Journeyman division! I also saw how I managed to hit myself on the head…*sigh*. We didn’t do a lot on Sunday. We saw an awesome Nazgul (Ringwrath)!

Overall, I though TT was a lot more interesting than AN. AN was boring. I’m not sure if I want to go back next year. The price was insane…and for a poor student like me, that’s not good!
