Ring of Barahir from The Lord of the Rings
“(…)green jewels gleamed there that the Noldor had devised in Valinor.
For this ring was like to twin serpents, whose eyes were emeralds,
and their heads met beneath a crown of golden flowers, that the one upheld
and the other devoured; that was the badge of Finarfin and his house.”
(The Silmarillion)
I based my replica of Aragorn's ring on the ring from the Noble Collection,
as well as the photos in the costume gallery on the LOTR Extended DVD. Here are some details
about this one of a kind piece:
- The entire ring is sculpted from polymer clay. It is extremely detailed.
- A genuine Swarovski emerald crystal is set in the center, surrounded by a "dragon tail" motif
- The stone is flanked on both sides by a dragon head and dragon wings
- Over each dragon's head there is a golden crown
- Each dragon's tail extends the entire circumfrence of the ring and criss-crosses at the back
- The ring is painted Mythril Silver, covered with silver leaf foil and a black antiquing glaze is applied
to highlight the detailed carvings in the ring. The final effect
resembles pewter.
- Since this is meant to be a man's ring, I can make it to fit between size 8-12. It would also
look fantastic over a pair of gloves.
